It's hard to not hear first hand what your child is doing. So each morning it's my challenge to find out what is going on in Iraq. The media is lessening it's coverage on the war. Wed March 19th was the 5 year Anniversary of the war. It marks a time for us when Derek will be entering Baghdad in a few days. So I thought I would share some links that have been useful for me in reading news.

Of course there are tons more and there are the regular news places also. But these first two are more directed at the 76th Brigade and then 1-293 which is the unit that Derek belongs to.
I did get to talk to Derek two times this week. He's good, has been a bit under the weather. Dry, windy and sand storms are the new name of the game. His throat was sore and he's adjusting to the new climate there. They were out on a 3 day mission, practicing the convey runs that they will make later on. Mostly they are just adjusting to everything.
