More summer work done

It seems that the hot days of July and now August are working us to death. We have been getting alot done in the evenings and on the weekends. But the temps pushing 95 and even 100 have pushed us inside to work a while, now. So far we have expanded the rasied garden area with more big tractor tires, (I love freecycle) and gathered rocks for the pond we have started digging by the garage. I dug up all the flowers that I have accumulated around the house and added dirt and mulch to it. Don has moved dirt to the front by the drive way for a new flower bed in the shade and he expanded the pond out back so that it will collect more rain.

I had to add this photo of the raised bed garden earlier this spring. We had tons of rain in the spring and well, in the flat of Kansas we kept it all for a while. All the rain made it difficult to get in the yard and build beds or move dirt. So we had a slow start, but I'm so glad to say that the rewards have been great still. We had 3 good batches of Green beans, Many tomatoes for canning, eating and giving away, Okra un-ending, a few strawberries and Blueberries and we are waiting to see what the sweet potato, pickles, pumpkins (white and Jacko'lantern) will do. So very excited to have the entra tires to expand the whole raised bed area for next spring.
This tire is over flowing with sweet potato in the middle, and pumpkin plants around the outside.

And finally today I worked on canning and freezing for the winter..
28 jars of peach Jelly, 12 pints of spag. sauce, 19 jars of Pizza sauce and 4 bags of blackberries in the freezer. YUMMM! I usually can the pizza sauce in what is called "jelly jars" since they are smaller and better suited for us making two pizzas with one jar. I also did some Spag. Sauce in those jars and in the pint size ones. So that pretty much took up my day. Plus it was really hot out and so I hated to have the stove on all day, but it needed to be done.
