The end of summer is here, even if the temp is still 90!We have had a busy and rewarding weekend. I was up early to enjoy the cooler morning time on the porch and the morning glories.. They are taking over the corner of the deck a bit, even out into the stairs.
We had such a wet spring and summer, but the last month has been DRY AND HOT! We had over 3 weeks of 100 and over temps. So, the bugs have really come out as you can tell on the vines here. It's nice now to have a bit cooler temps, we could use a bit of rain now too. Just figures from one to the other extreme!
ON SATURDAY,, I went to Ft. Leonard Wood Mo and picked up Casey. Since he's the BEST OF THE BEST at Basic/MP training he had a pass for two nights and two days. IT was so great to have him home again. We had a nice family dinner on Sunday and everyone got to come and see him.
Don just called from the hotel where Casey was to meet his buddies, they have arrived and Casey is back with his battle buddies, ready to go back on post. Each trainee is to have a "Battle Buddy" so that they have someone to watch out for. It was good to have him here for a visit but it was good to know that he's back and ready to finish his training. He graduates Sept 20th. It won't be long and we will see him again.
Finally the sun is setting on a super weekend and a wonderful summer...
